The Adventure of the Journey

As with all of us, I am so aware that when I am focused on where I want to go in my life, and how I want to get there, amazing things happen.  It is when I sort of know, and/or I am sort of focused, that it seems everything gets stuck and it takes forever.

Life is so different when we see it through the eyes of faith or spirituality, possibility, and the awareness that life is an adventure to be lived not a hell to be survived.  Our journey can take us to any number of places yet it is still an adventure to be enjoyed. I like it so much better that way because there is always room for passion, vibrancy, and a new perspective. Things which to me make any life, or adventure, well worth living. I wish that for each of you.

Opening up to bigger and better things.

Over the years I have been interviewed by numerous magazines and newspapers as well as various TV and radio hosts in several countries. Nonetheless, being a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Network a short while ago felt as if I was moving to a whole other level. Then, two weeks ago, I received a call from a woman at Huffington Post asking if she could interview me about my life. When we finished she said that having researched me she also discovered my work in Energy Medicine and wanted to know if we could do a second interview on that topic which of course I consented to.

Although I have been looking for opportunities to get my message out to larger audiences, I have discovered it requires that I open up to receiving the opportunities provided. My first thought was, "My life, it’s just a life." yet when I think of what I would tell others who may say the same thing I heard my own words saying that the greatest gift we bring to another is ourselves, it is who we are, who we have chosen to become. Accepting that each of us is a gift, and each of us has a story to tell, means that as the world is ready, our story can now support another in taking risks, in learning, and in coming alive, so as to open up to all the opportunities and adventures that our lives can provide. I wish that for all of us.

New Women's Group

I have been asked several times if I would open a group for women who want support as they live their journey trying to incorporate all their personal growth into their daily lives, relationships, and work life. It isn't always easy when we think we "got it" and then life intervenes and reminds us "maybe not."

Humor, insight, and shared experiences can be the gift you need to help you integrate where you are, where you want to go, and how you want to get there. Meeting once a month with the larger group (limited to 10) while having the option of connecting with each other more frequently on a smaller level may help you create the accountability as well as the momentum forward that you need.

If you are interested please call me at 860-461-7569 or email me at dorothy@drdorothyct.com.
Any questions or comments are welcomed...

Warmly,
Dorothy

Warming up for the Holidays

Now that Thanksgiving Day has passed, the realization of how blessed we truly are remains. A day with extended family and friends can show us how far we have come in our own right and yet also how close we want to stay with those we love.  Thanksgiving was the warm-up for this month!
Ironically, the best way to be truly close to others is in being grounded in yourself and in your journey. Those are the qualities that make you comfortable in your skin allowing you to truly be present with those you meet and spend time with.  If you aren't there yet what do you need to do to get there?  I mention this now because it can become so easy - if we don’t have a focus - to get caught in the holiday spree of this month, in running around, rushing to fit as much as possible into a limited time frame,  and all while trying to enjoy holiday cheer.
It also puts the focus of the upcoming month where it belongs, on connecting with others, in ways we may not have during the course of the year. That is the best gift worth giving.

The Holidays Begin

With the holidays beginning, in my office I now see so many folks who have created an ideal image of what their holiday should be like – and – it is what they think should be the norm. However, when they are caught between fearing a repeat of last year’s family event, and hoping for a miracle for this year, there is little chance for an appreciation of what actually happens.
What if, you went into an event with no expectations? What if you had the ability to simply show up? No matter what happened, it wouldn’t overly disappoint or surprise you. You would have the ability to just see it for what it was. It would probably have some high moments in which you truly saw the splendor of those in your life, funny moments in which the innocence of the children shows in ways no one could have seen coming, some disappointing moments in which someone said or did something offensive or beneath who you think they are, some sad moments in missing someone you love, and some moments of pure appreciation for what is. This is the realistic holiday and the miracle as well. It is the one in which you get to the humanity and the embodied soul in all those who you share your holiday with.  I wish for you, a splendid and safe Thanksgiving, no matter who you are with or how far you travel to enjoy this gift of life.
